What’s Lollapalooza?

The festival was created by singer Perry Farrell in 1991 as a ”goodbye” tour for his band, Jane’s Addiction. Initially, the tour included several groups and took place annually until 1997.

Later on, it came back in 2003 as a traveling festival that brought together various musical genres and presented new bands. The festival has since grown to become a global event, with different editions held in a variety of countries.

The name Lollapalooza was not chosen randomly, it is an expression used in the United States to refer to something unusual, impressive, or attractive.

In 2011, the Brazilian version of Lollapalooza was confirmed, and it had its first edition in São Paulo in 2012. The festival continues to evolve, with an increasing focus on sustainability, diversity, and inclusivity. It remains a must-attend event for alternative music lovers worldwide, offering a diverse range of experiences beyond just music.

Highlights during the Brazilian 2023 edition

Lollapalooza 2023 was a three-day festival filled with exciting performances from some of the biggest names in music. Lil Nas X kicked off the first night on the stage, dancing to his greatest hits including “MONTERO” and “Industry Baby“. The crowd was ecstatic, and Lil Nas X even surprised everyone by inviting Brazilian drag queen Pabllo Vittar to join him on stage.

Billie Eilish made her debut in Brazil, delivering a magnetic performance that enchanted the audience. Her setlist was full of hits and she even teamed up with her brother Finneas on the guitar. The audience was thrilled by her genuine happiness to be there and the affection she showed to her Brazilian fans.

On the second day Ludmilla, the Brazilian funk artist, proved her versatility and skill by performing various styles of music, including funk, pagode, pagodão baiano, and songs from her new trapper era album, Vilã. Her performance at Lollapalooza 2023 was a testament to her talent and ability to entertain a diverse audience.

Perry Farrell, the creator of Lollapalooza, also took the stage with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, giving a standout performance filled with classic hits from their band.

One of the standout performances during the third day was by Norwegian singer Aurora, who took to the stage on Sunday afternoon. Her voice and captivating stage presence left the audience spellbound, as she performed her biggest hits and rocked the sunset with her music.

Tove Lo also returned to the festival for an unforgettable performance on the main stage, bringing her unique style and energy to the stage. The Budweiser stage was transformed into a ballad as the audience danced along to her music.

Another memorable moment was when Rosalía and Gloria Groove joined forces to perform “La Noche de Anoche” together. Rosalía left the stage to sing with the audience and was joined by none other than Gloria Groove.

Unfortunately, rapper Drake cancelled his appearance just a few hours before the festival gates opened, but Skrillex stepped in to save the day. The DJ owned the stage, using reflectors, pyrotechnics, and a giant screen to create an unforgettable performance.

To have a successful Instagram account, you need to put in the time and effort. You can’t just set up your account and expect people to start clicking on your links. You need an engaged audience that is interested in your brand. This is why running Instagram ads is still a good idea – it will help you build up a following and figure out what engages your target customers best.

Dealing with social media influencers is not always easy. Actually, most of the time, companies and influencers can’t communicate clearly, as there is a lack of a cultural, linguistic, and social bridge that connects both.

When it comes to Latin influencers, this communication barrier is even bigger. Not only because a lot of people in countries like Brazil or Colombia don’t English, but also because these countries are highly multicultural, with cities with completely different styles, slang, social and cultural movements within the country.

In the case of Brazil, this aspect is so strong that there are even completely different cultures within the same city, in big metropolises like São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.

It is really hard to keep up with the constant changes in the pop culture and in the internet world, so contacting an agency whose job is to always be updated about what the influencers are doing, how is the stability in the country, and more important information for your company, is the best strategy.
